Downloading Your Images
SmugMug allows you to download images either as an entire gallery, a select group of images, or one image at a time. Downloads are triggered by clicking on the download symbol usually found in the lower right corner of every image. SmugMug security allows for the option to password protect downloads. If your gallery is password protected and you are not sure what it is, please send us a note to request it. Our default is to NOT password protect galleries:

You can download an entire gallery by clicking on the download button found on the first image of a gallery, which is also known as a gallery cover image. Other images can be downloaded one at a time by clicking on the download button of each image, or as a group by selecting a group of images and clicking on the download button of any selected image. Small amounts of images will be downloaded directly to where your browser is configured to store downloads. Larger amounts of images will trigger a process that will create a compressed (zipped) folder of images that is downloaded for you to open and view your images. This last method requires a few extra steps, so let’s talk about that.
Downloading a large block of images from SmugMug is a multi step process by which your gallery of images is collected into a zip/compressed folder and emailed to you.
The first step is to provide an email address:

SmugMug will send a verification email to the address you provide that looks like this:

Click on the link provided to begin the download process. The link may take you back to your gallery but you do not need to do anything else except wait for the download process to finish. You will be notified via email when this happens:

Click on the “DOWNLOAD ZIP” button to begin downloading your zip folder. You may see one more screen asking you to confirm the download:

The icon on the left in the following image shows what zip folder looks like in the process of being downloaded, while the icon on the right shows what it looks like once it is finished downloading:

Once the zip file is fully downloaded you will have a compressed folder of images stored on your device. To uncompress this folder simply click on it to begin that process that will create a regular folder of images within a short time:
